Melissa -
Two trains and a couple of nights in Washington and getting out there and letting your voice be heard. WOW! You are one confident young lady and I know you will totally amaze everyone you meet and impress them with your knowledge of what needs to be done for all kids. You are a great representative and spokesperson. Enjoy.

Hi Melissa,
My thoughts are with you, your Mom and Donna as you move forward on this journey to represent our Kids. I have all the confidence in you ... in fact ... with all you have endured and conquered, there could be no better representative. Good luck and I look forward to reading your blogs.

Melissa, we are so proud of you. I'm sure you had a full day today but I have no doubt that you wow'd everyone. When you are on the Hill tomorrow, I know you'll melt their hearts with that beautiful smile of yours. Don't be nervous - you are a natural! Remember, even though you are the spokesperson for all kids and have a full calendar, make sure you take some time for you and relax and have fun. See you when you return home!

Hi Melissa,
Finally got to watch the video and think you did a GREAT job! I cannot wait to hear all you have to say when you get back. Now, THAT would make a great video.

Melissa's Story

  • Melissa was hit by a car as a toddler and suffered a traumatic brain injury. While her initial prognosis was grim, she is now a pretty typical 15-year-old thanks in large part to the team at Children's Specialized Hospital.

Melissa will be blogging about her upcoming trip to Capitol Hill on June 17-18 to tell lawmakers about the importance of access to quality specialized care at children's hospitals.
