Hello everybody, it's Kimmi again. Today is my second day in Washington D.C. As you can imagine, I have had lots and lots of fun. Last night I went swimming for an hour, with no aches and pains from my sickle cell! Isn't God good?
Today, early in the morning, I woke up out of my really really comfortable bed and I ordered room service with my sister. Then, we got ready to go on the big tour. It was very very hot outside. We cooled off on the bus in between our stops a little bit.
First, we went to the Museum of Natural History and saw lots of interesting things, like the Hope Diamond, prehistoric bones, and the Africa exhibit. My favorite sight in the museum was the gorilla in the Africa section. Gorillas are my favorite animals. After the museum, we went to eat lunch on the grass near the Reflecting Pool.
After that, we took a hike and saw the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. I took a picture in front of the Vietnam Wall. Next we went to the FDR Memorial and got a tour. We saw a lot of statues that looked very real. There were also a lot of waterfalls. Lastly, over the river, me and my Dad took a picture in front of the Jefferson Memorial. See all my pictures.
My day is not over yet! I have more to come. I just finished taping a radio recording and now I am off to training for my Capitol Hill visits. After that, I have lots of interviews. Finally, I will be able to go swimming after all of that!
Tonight, we have a networking dinner, I'm so excited. Tomorrow, I will blog about my meetings on Capitol Hill. So stay tuned if you are interested on how they go! May God bless!
