Hey everybody, it's me again. The one and only Kimmi D. Of course you know that I'm in Washington D.C. and I had a really busy schedule. First, I met Stan Skocki, one of Columbus Children's lobbyists in D.C. We grabbed breakfast and went over my day's schedule.
Then, I was off to Congresswoman Deborah Pryce's office. There, I was followed by an interview and camera crew for NACHRI. I met Congresswoman Pryce's assistant, Lauren first. After that, we talked for awhile with Ms. Pryce. We discussed the funding issues for Children's Hospitals and I told her my story. Ms. Pryce shared with me her personal story about her daughter's illness. We shared a bond. What a great start to my day.
Next, my sister and I split up. Melissa and Stan went to meet with Senator Voinovich while my parents and I went to meet with Congressman David Hobson. Mr. Hobson was familiar with me because we ran into him at the airport on our trip to Washington. Then, we sat down and I thanked him for all his support. We took pictures and he gave us a couple thermoses and pens.
Then we were off to meet with Congressman Pat Tiberi. We met Mr. Tiberi at the airport as well. We had a great conversation with him. I gave him one of my trading cards and also thanked him for all of his support. Afterwards, Congressman Tiberi gave us a tour of the Capitol and took us to the gallery up above the House Floor to watch the Congressmen vote. He was very helpful and spent the most time with us. He explained to me how Congressmen vote and what bills he was voting on that day. It was absolutely exciting and I thank God for bringing me here.
We had lunch and Senator John Kerry made an appearance. I also had another interview with Channel 10 TV. That was another one of my many exciting interviews.
Lastly, we met with Roberta Downing and Katie Fechko from Senator Sherrod Brown's office. We had a group meeting with the other Children's Hospitals families in Ohio. We had fun listening to each other's stories. But by this time, I was very very tired from my busy day. So now we are on our way to the airport and it's my last walk in Washington! So I will write again once I am back in Ohio. May God bless!
P.S. Sorry if I have not responded to your comments! I have not had a chance to check them yet. I'll get back to you, I promise!
