Erin is the true definition of tenacious. She and her twin sister, Jade, were born conjoined, sharing an umbilical cord, liver, diaphragm and pericardium. Erin’s heart was also 60 percent inside of Jade’s chest.
The twins were successfully separated by pediatric specialists at Children’s National Medical Center. Although Erin suffered a spinal cord stroke during the surgery that left her paralyzed from mid-chest down, she is determined to walk someday with the help of the hospital’s physical and occupational therapists and skilled doctors. In the meantime, she refuses to let her injury keep her from any activity she wants to do, including drawing, dancing and singing.
Leave a comment to cheer on Erin as she travels to Washington, DC to champion children's health issues.
You two girls have inspired me! Also both of you are soooo cute! <3 I know Erin will succeed! <3

Dear Erin: You are a beautiful and precious little girl. May God watch over you and may you one day have the freedom to walk. Your strength and determination is a strong example for both children and adults.
